JJ Kelly Trophy Dumping

Anybody read about that in the Cornfield? Sound like a crock of ****. They should have at least tried to find out as much as they could about them. Someone put in time for that school for each of those trophies. That's some links to Kelly history they cant get back.

Anybody heard anything else about this. Talked ot a few people today who say that some of the Trophies were less than 10 yrs old.

Got me thinking when they do consolidate what will they do with each schools trophies and the Pictures on the walls.

Letcher County doesn't have anything from the old schools is what I was told. I'd assume that this might be the best way to go here too. touchy topic too

Maybe save a few(state) from each school and make a small case at the new schools or maybe have a big auction or something.

Wow, that's the kind of thing that someone like myself who is interested in history just can't understand?

You'd be surprised at what local governments throw away. I've come in possession of a few items discarded by government offices in the past, as has nearly everyone I know who collects and deals in antiques and old stuff in general. I've been in possession of and have sold items that contained information that was "contrary" to the local accepted history for instance (again, as have most who do what I do).

You know that the court documents concerning Doc Taylor's trial (which raised serious questions about his guilt and seems to support some of the conspiracy theories) were found under a pile of trash in the courthouse attic.

same thing happened over here. The Jr. High was the HS until they built the Sr. High in '64.
But most of the trophies stayed in the building.
When they let the Jr. High become ASL, they threw out everything in the trophy cases. Said they didn't have anyplace to put them at the Sr. High.

As I was reading about this, I got to thinking. If they were trophies for individuals who accomplished things as individuals(such as being selected to all-district)then to me, they are considered individual accomplishments and should be discarded if the individuals don't want them.

If they are trophies won by individuals representing their schools(such as winning district, region, or state in tennis or something like that) then they should be kept or given to the individuals or to a business who will keep it displayed.

If they are team trophies, then most definately do not toss them.

The school, schoolboard, or whoever it was, should then be held accountable.
